Review:
Johnny English stars Rowan Atkinson as the titular character. The story is simple. After, English botches several intelligence missions all of the other MI5 agents in London are dead. The lead agent was hot on the trail of a big case involving the potential theft of the crown jewels. English is sent to protect the jewels and naturally blows it big time. During the unveiling of the jewels by Pascal Sauvage (John Malkovich) they are stolen and hidden in a casket to be transported around London. Sauvage has greedy motives despite being in favor with everyone in the English government.
The best part of the movie is Rowan Atkinson’s antics. His physical comedy is unmatched and the movie’s action scenes have comedic tilts. While exploring an underground cave English insists he can get out because of an ancient tribal technique that involves singing only in E flat and using echolocation. In another instance he crawls out of a cabinet that it would seem to be impossible to get into.
Verdict:
It is a fun, silly, movie with British charm. See it.
